Video from a link terms

These terms apply when you use Video from a link in the Escalium Advanced Video Editor: you paste a link to a video and Escalium uses its best shots as the footage of your video. You accept them by ticking "I accept the Video from a link terms" before the video is used.

They are part of Escalium's Terms of Service. Where the two differ about Video from a link, these terms apply.

1. What Video from a link does

You paste up to five links to videos on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram or Vimeo. Each video is downloaded, its best shots are found and they are cut to the beat of your song, under your lyrics. You can then edit the result like any other project.

YouTube links work in the Escalium desktop app only. TikTok, Instagram and Vimeo links also work on the website.

2. The rights you need

Most videos online belong to someone: the person who filmed them, an artist, a label or a studio. By accepting these terms, you confirm for every video you use that:

  • you made it yourself, or
  • its owner has given you permission to use it in your video and to publish the result, or
  • the law of your country allows your use without permission.

You are responsible for this, and for anything you publish with the video. A video being public on a site does not mean you may reuse it. If you are not sure, use your own footage or ask the owner first.

Some sites' own terms limit downloading their videos. You are responsible for following the terms of the site the video comes from.

3. Where the video goes

The video is saved only on your device, inside your project:

  • in the desktop app, the app downloads it straight to your computer;
  • on the website, Escalium's servers fetch it and pass it to your browser as it arrives, without keeping a copy.

Escalium does not publish the video or share it with anyone. What you export and where you publish it is your decision.

4. What we record

For each link you use, we keep the link, the time you accepted these terms and your account. We use this to apply your plan's limits and to answer copyright complaints. How we handle personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy.

5. Copyright complaints

If an owner tells us that content made with Escalium uses their video without permission, we may remove that content where it is hosted by Escalium (for example, a landing page or a video in your account), tell you about the complaint and share what we recorded for that link where the law requires it.

If we receive repeated valid complaints about your account, we may turn off Video from a link for it, or suspend the account, as described in the Terms of Service.

To send a complaint, write to hello@escalium.io with the link to the original video, the content you are complaining about and how we can reach you.

6. Limits

Each video can be up to 2 hours long and up to 8 GB. The Free plan includes a few links per week; paid plans include unlimited links within a daily fair-use limit. The current limits are shown in the editor and on the pricing page, and we may change them.

A site can stop allowing downloads at any time, so a link that works today may not work tomorrow. Video from a link is provided as it is, without a guarantee that every link will work.

7. No affiliation

Escalium is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by YouTube, Google, TikTok, Instagram, Meta or Vimeo. Their names are used only to say which links work.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change matters for how you use Video from a link, we will ask you to accept the terms again in the editor.
